Gina Brown is a full time painter whose work is deeply shaped by her faith and gratitude. Before she took up painting professionally, she dreamed a verse from scripture: “aspire to live a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands.” Over time, that simple message has become a guiding principle in both her life and art. A believer in Jesus Christ, she views painting as a way to work with her hands and share beauty for a purpose beyond herself.

Born and raised in Glencoe, Alabama, Brown earned a degree in graphic design and spent several years working as a graphic artist before founding her own advertising agency. In 2009, she made the shift to painting full time, pursuing a lifelong creative calling. Her practice is grounded in thankfulness and a desire to bring others closer to moments of peace, reflection, and faith. Brown is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society. Her work is represented by Shain Gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Beverly McNeil Gallery in Birmingham, Alabama. She lives in Alabama with her husband, her high school sweetheart, and together they are proud parents and grandparents.

What inspires me to paint: My relationship with Jesus. My family and friends. The landscape — not just the beauty I see, but the way a place sounds, the air I breathe in and smell, the way it makes me feel. A good book, poem or song. Flowers and animals. The smell of oil paint and the way a long handled paintbrush feels in my hand.

If you look closely at my work, you’ll see imperfections. Sometimes my art looks unfinished. I embrace it. I paint loosely and simply, and I want my paintings to offer a quiet pause to the viewer.
